Originally built in 1941 as a single-story Craftsman residence by trailblazing architect Edith Northman, the home carries the legacy of one of Southern California’s most pioneering design figures. Born in Denmark and relocated to the United States in 1914, Northman became the first woman registered as an architect in Los Angeles, helping shape the region’s architectural fabric at a time when few women occupied the profession.

In an effort to honor that legacy, the home’s original structure has been thoughtfully preserved, with the new second-story addition respectfully set back to maintain the integrity of Northman’s original design.

Remaining true to Northman’s New England–influenced architectural sensibility, the residence features board-and-batten siding, chiseled brick, traditional divided-light windows and doors, and classic millwork—thoughtfully paired with the comforts and conveniences of modern living.
